Amethi: Panchayat secretaries across Amethi district launched a symbolic protest on Monday against the government order mandating online attendance. As a mark of dissent, the secretaries and other staff members wore black armbands while continuing their duties in block premises. They warned that the agitation would continue until their legitimate demands are met.
In Jagdishpur, Acting District President of the Gram Vikas Adhikari Association Manoj Mishra, State President Subhash Pandey, former District President of the Panchayat Officer Association Rajneesh Bhaskar, and secretaries Sanjay Anand, Nisha, Priya Singh, and ADO (ISB) Alok Dubey participated in the protest. They announced that the peaceful protest would continue until December 4.
At Gauriganj Block, panchayat secretaries similarly registered their protest against the online attendance directive.
In Bazarshukul, district organisation minister Ravi Yadav led the demonstration, where secretaries wore black armbands. Participants included Kamini Giri and Rakesh. In Bhadar Block, Secretary Anil Yadav warned that if their demands were not met, they would stage a dharna on December 5 and exit all official government WhatsApp groups.
Panchayat secretaries in Singhpur Block also voiced their dissent and cautioned the government about their growing dissatisfaction. At Sangrampur Block, secretaries argued that implementing online attendance without adequate resources and technical facilities was impractical. ADO Panchayat Lal Shashikant Singh, Ajit Singh, Mithilesh Yadav, and others were present during the protest.
In Shahgarh, panchayat secretaries gathered at the Panchayat Bhawan and protested by wearing black armbands.
The district-wide demonstrations reflect the widespread opposition among panchayat secretaries to the new attendance policy, which they claim is unfeasible without proper infrastructure support.
