Medha Rupam instructed concerned departments and staff to maintain regular monitoring of the night shelters and to ensure that people in need are promptly guided to these facilities. She also ordered increased night patrols across the city to identify individuals sleeping in the open and encourage them to move to the shelters for their safety.
Emphasising that protecting human life is the administration’s top priority during the winter season, the District Magistrate appealed to social organisations to work in coordination with the administration to reach out to as many vulnerable people as possible.
Officials and staff present during the inspection were directed to keep all arrangements in the night shelters well maintained until the cold wave subsides, with a clear warning that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
