Cold Wave in Delhi

Dense Fog to Blanket Delhi, UP; Cold Wave Conditions to Continue in Several States: IMD

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for dense fog and cold wave conditions across several parts of the country over the coming days. According to the weather department, dense fog is very likely to prevail during morning hours in many regions between December 12 and 16.

 

States expected to experience dense fog include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha. Reduced visibility during early morning hours may impact road, rail and air travel in these areas.

Alongside fog, the IMD has forecast cold wave conditions in parts of central, eastern and northern Peninsular India until December 14, 2025. As per the bulletin issued on Thursday, December 11, cold wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha on December 12 and 13. Similar conditions are expected over Telangana and north interior Karnataka between December 12 and 14.

The weather department has also informed that a fresh, feeble Western Disturbance is likely to influence the Western Himalayan region from December 13, 2025. Due to this system, light rainfall and snowfall are expected at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad from December 13 to 17.

In addition, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive light rain or snowfall at isolated locations on December 14.

The IMD has advised residents in affected regions to take necessary precautions against cold weather and poor visibility, especially during early morning and late-night hours.
