Varanasi: The Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Central Library has opened a seven-day book exhibition to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, offering students, scholars and visitors a rare opportunity to explore the life, thoughts and lasting contributions of one of India’s foremost educationists and national leaders.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by Prof. S. N. Sankhwar, Director of the Institute of Medical Sciences. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sankhwar said that the exhibition serves as an important platform for university students and visitors to familiarise themselves with the ideals, vision and works of Mahamana Malaviya. He added that the display also provides valuable insight into the historical background and foundation of the University.
Librarian Dr. Devendra Kumar Singh shared detailed information about the wide range of materials showcased at the exhibition. The collection includes rare books, research volumes, journals and other archival material related to Mahamana Malaviya. The exhibited works cover his personality, thoughts, speeches, writings, souvenirs, collected works and memorial volumes, along with literature on his role in the Indian Renaissance, the national awakening movement and the establishment of the University.
The exhibition is open to the public from December 24 to December 30, 2025, and can be visited daily between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Among the key attractions of the exhibition are the medals received by Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya and several items from his personal collection, which have drawn considerable interest from visitors.
The initiative by the Central Library is being widely appreciated as a meaningful effort to preserve and promote the legacy of Mahamana Malaviya and to inspire younger generations with his ideals of education, nationalism and social reform.
